After hiking Carterville, my friend and I decided to do Piney Woods. It was so cool in the forest today! We enjoyed the birds, and the trees were so lush and green after several days of showers. An unusual July for sure.

Here are a few pics of this section of trail.

The trail passes by this huge lighter pine stump. He is well over 5 feet tall. I think he needs a name?

I did not expect to see these black-eyed susans blooming in the woods! I guess enough light made its way through the canopy to stir a seed or two to life!
