Hiking Carterville Loop

(a 45 minute walk at a leisurely pace)

With all of the rain the past few days, we have been unable to do any work on the campground. So today I called a friend, and we hiked two of the trails. We started out at Carterville Loop and hiked to the end where we caught Piney Woods and hiked that loop back to where we started at Carterville.

I decided to start hiding the painted rocks today, so Cheryl and I hid 15 painted rocks along Carterville Loop. All of the rocks are painted with waterproof acrylic. Most have Indian designs.

The rocks are all in plain sight. Most are within 1 to 3 feet of the trail. A few are as far as 10 feet, but they are plainly visible. None are buried or hidden. We tried to place them where leaves or pine needles would not cover them if it is some time before they are found.

If you enjoy searching for the painted rocks, please choose one or two to keep and reside the rest like Easter eggs for others to enjoy. I think it may be more fun hiding them than finding them!

I will post a few pictures here of some of the ones we hid on Carterville Loop today.

We also saw some fascinating mushrooms today on Carterville Loop! I have never seen one like this!

This second picture with Cheryl’s sunglasses will give you an idea of the size of this thing!
